Additional SAPUI5 Tools

Looking for additional SAPUI5 tools for development? Well, it’s your lucky day!

Before anything else, I would like to mention that I’m not affiliated to any of the tools below neither sponsored by these tools. I’m listing these tools mainly because they are very useful and increases my productivity. čÖé

JSON Editor Online

My first recommendation is one of my go-to tools, simply because it helps me speed reading things on my data models. Ever come across a very big or long json that you can’t simply fit in the screen? Then this website is for you:

I will also use a rating system below so that you can easily compare these tools accordingly:

Website: https://jsoneditoronline.org

Ease of Use: 4.0 out of  5

Features:

  • This website is very intuitive, you can easily see where to place the input and output.
  • The ability to beautify and minify which is also very handy when speed copy-pasting content to your project or debugger.
  • Manipulation of data on the fly
  • Search is also present for very large data

Base64encode

The next website I’ll be mentioning is very useful for authentication. This is where base64encode and decode┬ácome into play.

When it comes to service testing and string manipulation, base 64 is always present. Especially on connecting to different APIs. Click here if you want samples on OData modeling.

I usually supply the plain string to this website and then paste the generated base64 to the request for testing.

Base64 Encode Decode

  • Accepts file input
  • Support different charset

URLDecoder

Next in the list is for parsing URL to a readable format with the use of URLDecoder.

Most of the times SAPUI5 developers inspect service calls, HTTP request on the network console, and these URLs are not on plain text but rather on the obscure URL encoded pattern. It’s very easy to hard to read URL patterns and links, and this is where this tool excels. Simply paste the URL and viola converted and formatted.
